LOCATION: The village of Fakia is located in South-East Bulgaria and is included in Municipality Sredets (Bourgas District). The village takes pride on eventful history and old renowned families. Several generations of the Bimbelov family lived here. The family tomb stones can be seen in the church of St. Demetrius, the only one of four which managed to survive until today. The Bimbelovs were descendants of the glorious voevoda (rebel leader) Momchil for who there are many legends and folk songs.
The village is located in Strandja Mountain (one of the most popular for hunting) and through it runs the river "Fakiiska". In the village were built four churches, but is reserved latest, "St. Dimitar", built in 1891.
In deciduous forest on the way to the village of Dolno iabulkovo has numerous excavations of Roman tombs, which are amazing. South of the village is located the area called “Drumut”. There was built by the Bulgarian Tsar Peter, well kept a length of about 2 km. Nowadays, it can be observed without making excavations works. There is a school which is located at the beginning of the village.
Every year around Friday and Saturday in the middle of September (the day the church was consecrated "St. Dimitar") in the village has Fakia Fair, which is held rebounds. Also every year celebrate St. Lazarus, Midsummer and held mummers games.
